Honouring Our Past Tricolours Stars

Past. Stable. Stars.

While we’re incredibly proud of our current stable, we believe it’s just as important to honour the race-horses who achieved a high level of success on the track and helped shape the Tricolours journey along the way. Each one played a vital role in building our identity and left an indelible mark on our story. These former stable stars brought us unforgettable moments on the track with thrills, triumphs, and memories we’ll always cherish. Though they’ve since moved on to the next chapter of life beyond racing, they will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

  • MISS MOANA

One of our earliest and most beloved purchases, Miss Moana proved herself to be a high-quality staying mare on the track. Amongst her career highlights, she finished runner-up in the Group 3 TAB South Australian Classic and claimed third in the Listed Christmas Cup. She also competed admirably at the elite level, delivering credible performances outside the placings in both the Group 1 AJC Oaks and the Group 1 VRC Oaks. She retired in 2020 with a record of 17: 5-4-2 which is an enviable record for any stayer and we so look forward to seeing her progeny on the racetrack in the years to come.

  • FASIKA

Fasika - our Queen. The most successful horse in our short history. She rose quickly through the grades, starting with a Listed win as a 3 year old, progressing to Group success consistently placing at Group 1 and Group 2 level. On her resume, she won the Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality over 1200m, and the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes also at Randwick. She placed 2nd in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes, 2nd in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes, 2nd in the Silver Eagle, and 3rd in the Group 2 Missile Stakes. In one of the greatest races of her career, she finished a brave 3rd behind Tofane and Pierata in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes. She had a number of injury battles through her career which eventually brought her career to a premature end. 15 starts: 5-3-2. And over $750,000 in prizemoney. She was an out and out star !

  • THREEOOD

Tricolours purchased Threeood as a tried horse for a song and she went on to become a super consistent performer. In her second prep with Tricolours, during the late Autumn and Winter of 2020 in Sydney, she had an incredible 10 starts in one prep, where she racked up 4 wins and 4 placings during that campaign. She was as tough as nails, and was regarded as one of the most consistent race-mares in Sydney at the time. “Oodles” had a lot of spirit and whilst she didn’t have the easiest temperament, she gave her all every single time on the race track. In her final prep with Tricolours she ran an incredible first race at Rosehill to storm down the outside and win, after being in an impossible position for most of the race. She then finished her prep and her racing career with Tricolours with a resounding victory in the Group 3 Belle of the Turf Stakes at Gosford.

  • PECANS

This lovely mare was purchased as a tried horse by Tricolours Racing, and she took us on a wonderful journey to deliver a strong Stakes record. She raced with such great heart and really came into her own in her 4 and 5 year old season. In 2017, she won the Group 3 Belle of the Turf Stakes at Gosford over 1600m. And then in 2018, she scored an impressive victory in the Group 3 Goldolphin Crown at Hawkesbury, and also won the Listed Ladies Day Cup at Hawkesbury over 1400m. She had a devoted and passionate ownership group who would cheer themselves hoarse at her races. “Roxy” was a very special horse for us.

  • ROYAL WITNESS

What a great little hose “Bluey” was. He wasn’t a superstar Group or Listed performer but he was as honest as the day is long and put his heart and soul into his racing. From 40 starts he had 6 wins and 14 placings, meaning on average he won or placed in 50% of his starts across his whole career. And whilst he didn’t race at the elite level, he was a very well-performed city metro horse and managed to amass over $400,000 in prize money which was outstanding. His ownership group adored him, and he soon became known by us as “The People’s Champion”. There wasn’t much of him in stature but what he lacked in size - he made up for with a huge heart. He was a little warrior !

  • GIN MARTINI

A striking and flashy chestnut mare, Gin Martini boasted a very impressive racing résumé. She captured the Group 3 Epona Stakes and the Listed Sandown Cup, showcasing her versatility and staying power. Among her standout performances, she ran a narrow second in the Group 2 Chairman’s Quality and delivered a brave third in the Group 1 Australian Oaks. Her consistency at the top level also included placings in both the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic and the Group 3 Schweppervescence. Over the course of her career, “Ruby” amassed more than $500,000 in prize money, earning a reputation as a tough and talented performer on the Australian racing scene.

  • BALLISTIC LOVER

What a class mare she was. “Poppy” as she was affectionately known was an absolute speed machine on the track and so exciting to watch. In 2021 she won the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes at Rosehill and also in that year win the Listed Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley, She ran second in the Group 3 Furphy Sprint and held her own in Group 1 company, finishing 4th only 2 lengths for the winner in the Group 1 Moir Stakes over 100m at Moonee Valley. She finished her career with stats  of16: 6-3-1 and amassed over $450,000 in prizemoney.  She was a class sprinter who gave us all a huge thrill.

  • PARTY FOR ONE

We have fond memories of this mare and she delivered her most competitive performances in Group 3 level races. in particular 2022 was a solid year for her. That year - she ran 2nd in the Group 3 J.H.B Carr Stakes at Randwick, 3rd in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas and a close-up 5th in the Group 3 P.J Bell Stakes. Then in 2024 she finished 3rd in the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes at Caulfield and ran a very credible race in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes. In her racing career with Tricolours, she won over $300,000. “Muffin” was a lovely filly who provided her ownership group with some lovely highlights along the way on the race-track.
