On Saturday 17 October at Randwick, Beyond The Reef came from the very back of the field to win the Group 3 Reginald Allen Quality. It was only her fourth start.

For most of our owners, a win like that is the reason you get into racing. For us, this one carried a little extra, because Beyond The Reef isn't just a horse we syndicated, we also bred her.

For a lot of new owners, the first race day is the moment racehorse syndication stops being an idea on a page and becomes real. You've seen the updates, watched the trackwork clips, maybe even visited the stable — but nothing quite prepares you for standing in the mounting yard as your horse's silks come out. Here's what the day actually looks like, from arrival to the trip home.
