You’ll love this gorgeous filly by dual Group 1 winner and Cox Plate runner-up Castelvecchio, out of the Japanese-bred mare Almandine - an exciting combination of Australian Group 1 class and proven Japanese bloodlines.

We are thrilled to introduce this classy 2 year old filly, secured at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale. She is an athletic, beautifully balanced filly who caught our eye with her quality, presence and scope, and we’re delighted to have her joining the Tricolours Racing team.

Her sire, Castelvecchio, needs little introduction. A dual Group 1 winner, he won the 2019 Champagne Stakes (1600m) as a two-year-old before returning at three to claim the 2020 Rosehill Guineas (2000m). He was also a brilliant second in the 2019 Cox Plate, establishing himself as one of the outstanding middle-distance racehorses of his generation.

On the dam side, Almandine brings Japanese bloodlines into the pedigree, adding another fascinating dimension to this filly. We’ve already seen plenty to excite us from this Castelvecchio/Japanese-bred combination, having recently sold out of our Castelvecchio x Shirayuki colt, who has been extremely impressive in his early education. It certainly gave us plenty of confidence to go back to the same bloodline combination, and we’re delighted to now have this filly in the stable.

She’ll be trained by John Sargent, who has an outstanding record with young fillies and a proven ability to develop them into competitive racehorses competing at the highest level.

We believe this filly offers an incredibly exciting opportunity for our syndicate. She has the pedigree, athleticism and quality we look for, and with shares available from just $1,800, she represents fantastic value and an affordable way to get involved in a beautifully bred young racehorse. Opportunities to get involved in a filly with this pedigree and quality at this level of investment don’t come around often, so be quick to secure your share.
